At Edmund Rowland & Son, we acknowledge the importance of planning a funeral. Cremation has emerged as a popular choice for families, and we offer flexible options to accommodate various preferences. Whether you opt for a chapel at the crematorium, a church setting, or another appropriate venue, we prioritise honouring your wishes. We can assist in arranging for a suitable officiant to conduct the ceremony, whether it aligns with religious or non-religious beliefs. During the service, guests have the choice to gather outside or take seats in the chapel before the arrival of the coffin. Personal touches such as hymns, songs, eulogies, and readings can be incorporated as desired. Upon the conclusion of the service, you have the option to close the crematorium curtain or leave it open to pay final respects as you exit.  Deciding what to do with the ashes of your loved one is a deeply personal decision, and we're here to offer guidance and support as you navigate your options. Most crematoriums can return the ashes within a week, and our team is available to assist you throughout this process.

Burials

Planning a funeral can be emotionally taxing, and our aim is to provide compassionate support and guidance during this challenging period. Our team is dedicated to helping you organise a funeral and burial at a suitable cemetery, graveyard, or burial ground, along with arranging a service in a church or chapel if desired. We believe in tailoring the funeral service to your unique preferences and beliefs, whether you envision a formal or informal ceremony, or a religious or non-religious service. Recognising that the burial process can be overwhelming, our compassionate team is available to address any questions or concerns you may have and offer support every step of the way

While there isn't a standardised definition for a "green" or "eco" funeral, we can assist you in arranging for your loved one's final resting place to be in a woodland or meadow burial ground. These environmentally conscious funerals can still incorporate faith-based elements and provide a selection of eco-friendly coffin and ashes casket options. A brief committal ceremony can be held at the graveside, and flowers can be placed without cellophane or ribbon. Some burial grounds also offer the option to plant memorial trees to honour the loved one's memory at the site of their interment.

Unattended

For those seeking simplicity or facing financial constraints, unattended cremations offer a more affordable alternative. This choice entails a  straightforward cremation process without a formal funeral service and is typically unattended, allowing you to bid farewell to your loved one in your own private manner. Although there is no formal service, you can still arrange a private memorial service or a celebration of life either before or after the   cremation to honour your loved one's wishes. Our team is available to help you determine if an unattended cremation aligns with your loved one's preferences and provide additional information to assist in organising such a service.
